Professional behavior is something that many of us misunderstand the actual meaning of it, or we understand the importance of it once it is too late.

Professional behavior at work is a lot more than wearing the proper outfit; it’s about:

  • How you behave when you are stressed.
  • How you interact with less powerful people. 
  • How do you say “NO” and lots more.

2. Careful Delivery

When you are presenting your ideas and thoughts, be very precise. Be confident about what you are talking about. Talk to yourself before you speak out. It gives an idea of what words to use and what to be ignored. Don’t use jargon in professional life.

Manage your emotions and body language, especially during stressful times.

Learn to recognize and control what you say when you are frustrated, overwhelmed, tired, and emotional while conversing.

Don’t bring your emotions down while expressing your thoughts.

If a deviation from the policy and process is required, document it in the mail to a responsible approver instead of discussing it. This will prevent you from getting into any trap.

9. Avoid unnecessary talks.

At times you may face unwanted questions shot towards you that you are not comfortable answering. Handle it wisely, be polite, and use the proper tone for not answering. Try keeping the conversation simple but with messages firmly on what you are trying to convey.

  • That’s too personal. That’s not appropriate to discuss.

And the best way is to smile and change the topic, and the person will definitely understand that you don’t want to answer it.
